STATIC MOTION » SCULPTED FROM ANIMATION

STATIC MOTION captures the body of American gymnast Jake Dalton as he bounds through the air at the London 2012 Olympic Games. While his twist, turns and layouts are normally fleeting to the eye, here, his silhouettes are are frozen in series to visualize their metamorphosis through time. One can gauge the amount he rotates, height he achieves, total distance he travels, and so forth, upon a single glance. The human body’s incredible aerial capabilities are thus manifested by means of sculpture. Static Motion was featured at the Best of HfK exhibition at the Wilhelm Wagenfeld Haus.
